Hardwood Spotlight- Andiroba Brazilian Mahogany

Andiroba is considered a successor of mahogany and found in the Amazon region, down in Bahia. The heartwood of Andiroba is dark brown or reddish brown with a distinctive pale brown or grayish sapwood.

Cleaning & Maintaining Your Hardwood Floors

All floors with a urethane finish should never be waxed and require cleaners that won’t leave a film or residue, alcohol based cleaners are best. Before using a cleaning product sweep or vacuum the hardwood floor removing dust, grit and sand. Clean one section of the floor at a time.

Hand Scraped or Distressed Hardwoods

Everywhere you turned at Vegas’ Surfaces Flooring Show a distressed wood floor was featured. Texture on these boards was created by scraping across the hard and soft grain of the plank flooring. Majority of this scraping is done by machine to simulate the age old “hand scraping” that was done years ago before sanding machines were invented.
